The Life of a Wickersham Family

This is a compilation of letters written to Frances Belt Wickersham by her children, step children and parents in the latter part of the 19th century. The letters reveal the families living conditions and difficult financial situation as the breadwinner's health or business decline. One son tells about the great Wanamaker store in Philadelphia at Christmas time. Clearly, Frances was considered the family confidant as well as the center of their love and affection.
