The Steimle family was sent to the Texas internment camp because of the father's connection to Germany. They were then sent to Germany in exchange of U.S. prisoners of war. The city of Pforzheim Germany where they were staying was bombed by the U.K. The Steimle family fled to a farmer's home outside of Pforzheim for the night.
