If you are looking for an in-depth overview of the factors associated with the development of the seats of power in the western world during the roughly 150 years until 1962, you must read this book. Quigley prefaces with an apology for the brevity of the 1300 plus pages and all he was compelled by the publisher to prune out, saying that the publisher believed nobody would buy the book if it was bigger. Tragedy and Hope is rare in scope. It is concise and insightful, from a scholar of uncanny academic credentials. You won't be disappointed.

Every person on the planet should have to read this book. However, I would settle for every member of US & State government.
