In the distant future, the cities of Mars are green, wild…and in desperate need of change.
Earth-born Iscendra Cole has small goals in life. Don’t lose her temper, don’t get robbed, try to sell a few of those funny cartoons she’s so good at sketching. So when she’s unexpectedly – and illegally – conscripted into the private army of Mars’ most selfish, unpopular High Duke, her world is shaken to its core.
It’s enough to make a girl want to commit treason. Luckily, the High Duke’s handsome cousin (and heir) is only too happy to help her…
Meanwhile, Iscendra’s cousin Aria lives a quiet life on the manmade satellite of Optus, barely touched by the rebellion and drama of the planet below. She spends her days serving drinks and handling drunks in her parents’ resort, until one day a strangely familiar boy shows up on her doorstep.
The two girls are tied together by one carefully-kept secret. But when the opportunity arises for real change, it might cost them everything…
A standalone young adult novel.

About the Author
M. Marinan is comfortably located in Wellington, New Zealand: a city that ‘you can’t beat on a fine day’. (Disclaimer: there aren’t that many fine days, but she’s still there.) She loves stories with adventure, drama and a happy ending, and writes in the same vein. She also likes beautiful things, nice people and carefully created art – the sort that looks as though it took effort, not like a toddler painted it with a brush stuck to their forehead. She also illustrates all her own work. It’s fun, she knows the characters...and she’s a bit cheap. Thanks to Massey University for making her feel qualified to publish her own work (and for giving her a student debt that will follow her into her old age. It was worth it).
