People...Telesco has made 2 errors in this book, and who knows - maybe more than that. On May 14, she talks about a Scandinavian Goddess called "Dag." Dag is a Scandinavian male GOD. On July 29th she talks about another Scandinavian Goddess, "Voluspa." Voluspa is a poem in a book called "The Poetic Edda" NOT A GODDESS!! Go find a copy of the Poetic Edda and look it up. The very first poem you find in that book is called "the Voluspa." It is Nordic prophecy; it is what a dead seeress (or "volva") said to Odin when he sought her out for information on the origins of the Nine Worlds and the Ragnarok, etc. "Voluspa" means "speech of the Volva," a volva being a prophetess/seer. If Telesco either lied about this or got it wrong, what else is wrong in this book??

There are many inaccuracies about different Goddesses in this book. In fact, some of the Goddesses are traditionally viewed as masculine spirits. Some are not deities and some are not feminine. It can be a good book for devotional purposes as long as some other source is used to verify the information on the particular deities/spirits. I would not use this book alone as an educational tool to learn about any particular deity you may not be familiar with.

Being new to Goddess worship/studies this book is the foundation of a curriculum for Goddess studies that I am participating in. The layout is great; learn about a new Goddess each day and about what she represents and the culture that she comes from. My world is opening up like a beautiful flower.
