Amaury's Hellion is the second installment in Tina Folsom's Scanguard Vampires Series and it was exquisite! One thing I can say is that each book in this series can very well stand alone. I've read this completely out of order and wasn't lost at all. Amaury LeSang is a bodyguard for the Scanguards, run by his good friend and fellow vampire, Samson. Amaury lost his family after becoming a vampire, and now lives with a curse. He will never love or feel love again, but he can feel other people's emotions to such an extent that it literally causes him pain. How does he curb it? Sex of course. Sex is the only thing that can ease the pain letting Amaury survive. He accepted his fate of never loving another, and keeps himself distanced from woman except to sex them to be pain free. That is until he meets Nina. Nina has been following the Scanguards to avenge her brothers death. She knows what they are and what they are capable of. She will kill Amaury if given the chance. What she didn't expect when she confronted him was that her body would take over with needs she thought she would never feel. As feisty as she is, Amaury is intrigued by Nina, not only because she is playing hard to get, but he cannot sense any emotion from her either. Folsom did a magnificent job with this title. You will fall in love with these characters and the plot is so strong you can't help but to turn the page. I highly recommend this entire series and I can't wait to delve into the latest installment, Yvette's Haven.

3.5 stars — I originally marked this as 4 stars on Goodreads, but I read it back before I started writing reviews. I’ve definitely changed as a person and a reader, and so this is more like 3-3.5 stars for me now. I’ll be generous considering my initial feelings, but I’m definitely rounding down. The book starts off with a warning about it dealing with taboo topics, which intrigued me because I didn’t really remember much. I think in our current political landscape, Amaury’s sexual advances are…not kosher? Like good for fantasy material, but if you have sensitivity on clear consent topics, then it might tweak you. That’s kind of what did it for me. That’s not really my fantasy…or at least I need it to be presented in a different way than it was in this book. I totally get fiction and stuff, but given what Nina dealt with in her past, his “male persuasive techniques” felt a bit over the line for me. So the funny thing is that YET AGAIN it was not the romance that kept me interested in this book. It’s still the world, the overarching plot, the huge cast of secondary characters, and to some degree the backgrounds of our main characters. My heart truly did break for Amaury’s past and what he was dealing with. And I did feel Nina’s love for her brother, and how screwed up she was from her past. And I was hella intrigued by the “bad guy” in this book, and that story. But the romance left me a bit bored. I think I enjoyed the first almost encounter (after the vampire attack), but most of the rest I started wanting to skim. I just wasn’t connecting with their romance. Lots of lust, not a lot of other connection. So yeah. I’ll keep reading the books I already own, but if I don’t get a bit more out of them, I doubt I will try to finish the series.

Amaury LeSang's gift or curse in his case to feel both human's and vampire's emotions is constant ache or migraine. Amaury only gets peace thru sex but sometimes it's not enough. Scanguards's bodyguards have recently killed two people which is one too many as far as Samson is concerned. Nina Martens wants revenge against vampires and doesn't really care how she gets it at this point. Nina crosses paths with Amaury but doesn't expect what happens between them to set up a chain reaction of events neither of them could expect or predict. Will Nina get her revenge? Will Amaury's curse be lifted? Who is behind the killings? Will either Amaury or Nina admit their attraction? Your answers await you in Amaury's Hellion. I think so far my favorite has to be Amaury out of all the Scanguards Vampires that I've met so far. Amaury really doesn't want to feel everyone's emotions but has no choice in the matter. Nina is my kind of heroine no holds bar and kickass personality. Pairing Amaury and Nina together is brilliant. I look forward to my next adventure in this series.

I stumbled on this series and writer by the recommendation of from another favorite writer Lara Adrian. The first book was a free down load, and that was it, I was hooked. Going to start the 6th book, can't wait.

This book is the second in the series and I think it was beautifully written. I first heard of this character in the first book which I automatically thought Amaury was very interesting and I right away wanted to know more about him therefore I'm very glad Miss Folsom decided to write about him. I love that Miss Folsom can get her reader to fall in love with her character by having us feel what the character feels, If they suffer I suffer right along with them. I loved That I can get so lost in her books that I forget my own worries and to me this is what make a great book

Grippingly Hot and Decisively suspenseful from the first page until the last!, Tina's second book in the Scanguard book series is definitely a win win for all. For the readers it is gripping from page one. The vampire Amaury is definitely A vampire you want to know from the first few pages of the book. His character has so many layers add to that a curse that has tortured his soul for decades making him a character that you can't forget! A character that you will come to love and know. The sex is hotter, the suspense is more gripping, and action scenes were heart stopping with tension building to the point that you felt fear for the characters you loved. It's a book that is impossible to put down, you feel as though you know the characters you relate to them and you can't stop reading to find out what happens to them. A vampire and a professed vampire slayer who is out for revenge will they succumb to their love and desire for each other or will the desire for revenge and survival win? Thats a question only answered by reading the book! A must read for anyone who loves vampires, hot sex, suspense, thrill, action. Tina completely delivered it all in this book! Amanda
