Historical documentation for the Life- Saving Station has come from three main sources- - the log books of the Cape Lookout Life- Saving Station, 1888- 1942;1 the park's collection of maps and drawings from the Coast Guard's archives, including plat maps of the station in 1893, 1917, 1920, 1922, 1934, 1938, and 1958; and the park's collection of historic photographs.
