Fire Mage by John Forrester

2018: Formatting fixed and book expanded and professionally edited.

For centuries, mages perfected magic at the Order of the Dawn. Mastery over fire, wind, and storm. They live in the last free city in a world plagued by dark sorcerers.

Talis Storm and friend Mara discover a terrible secret. The Jiserian Empire has targeted their city for attack. An army of undead soldiers. Flying necromancers. None have ever survived.

When a surprise aerial invasion hits the Order's temple, Talis casts fire magic for the first time. But his spell is wild and does more harm than good. Sorcerers try to capture Talis and Mara, but they flee into the temple crypts. Awoken from an ancient rest, a fallen champion slays the sorcerers and gives Talis a legendary map, leading them on a quest to discover the lost Temple of the Sun.

To save his city, Talis must unleash the power of magic locked away inside the ancient temple, and become a true fire mage.

I saw this book and thought it would be an interesting read. However it will NOT display properly no matter what settings I change on my nook color HD. So I paid for a book I can't read!

If you love Christopher Paolini (Eragon) or Rick Riordan's series, you'll love this book! Really great story that pulls you into the world. Great characters and lots of action and magic. I couldn't put the book down.

I got this book on a whim and was really glad I did! The story and the characters kept me turning the pages until the end of the book. I can't wait for the next one in the series!

My son read this book in one night and literally devoured it. I had to see what it was all about and found myself really enjoying the characters and the story. Talis and Mara are a great boy/girl combo, out on a magical adventure trying to help save their city. This is not simply an adventure book. It contains a good message on friendship, courage and a sense of protecting family and country. If your kids love fantasy and adventure, I highly recommend this book. The book is quite well written with a captivating plot that keeps you turning the pages to the end of the book.

As of January 2015, the formatting of this book is still messed up. It is unreadable. I wish I knew how to get it fixed.

The book might be good but I am un willing to put up with the bad digital copy. The pages are not in sink and the last word of each sentence is cut off. Do not waste your money.

Same layout issues as some others here.

I cannot read even half the book because there is an error in the spacing causing half the words to be off the page.

It needs to be modified or edited to re-center the text. Starting from page two, the words just sort of spill off the side of the screen making the book impossible to read.

The script is unreadable due to words flowing off the page I don't recommend this book until they fix the script

I have the same problem on my nook as a previous reviewer had. I cannot read it because the whole page is shifted to the right. I do not understand why b&n cannot fix this problem. Very disappointing. Do not buy this.book if you have a nook.
