About the Author

John W. Campbell Award Winner Wen Spencer resides in paradise in Hilo, Hawaii with two volcanoes overlooking her home. Spencer says that she often wakes up and exclaims "Oh my god, I live on an island in the middle of the Pacific!" According to Spencer, she lives with "my Dalai Lama-like husband, my autistic teenage son, and two cats (one of which is recovering from mental illness). All of which makes for very odd home life at times." Spencer's love of Japanese anime and manga flavors her writing. Her novel Tinker won the 2003 Sapphire Award for Best Science Fiction Romance and was a finalist for the Romantic Times Reviewers' Choice Award for Fantasy Novel. Her Wolf Who Rules was a Top Pick by Romantic Times and given their top rating of four and a half stars. Other Baen books include Endless Blue and Eight Million Gods. The Elfhome series includes Tinker, Wolf Who Rules, Elfhome, Wood Sprites and Project Elfhome.

It was fantastic to have the previously published short stories all together, along with new ones that answer some important plot questions that I didn't know I had. :p There were some typos and grammatical and/or word choice errors (ie tedious used instead of tenuous), but that didn't detract much from Ms. Spencer's fabulous storytelling. I was so happy to read snippets from Stormsong and Pony's POV, and to *finally* get an update on Olivia-I really hope she is in Harbinger, which I also hope will be ready to read soon! Thank you to Wen Spencer for all of your amazing and brilliant stories, which I am going to reread right now! PS, the first book by Wen Spencer that I read was Eight Million Gods, which is a standalone novel that hooked me from page one and is totally worth your time...just like all of her works!

True to form, Wen Spencer weaves multiple tales that are all hilarious and harrowing. It almost seems unreal that so much could be happening at once. But this is Pittsburgh, a town that has always been ripe with grit and personality. It makes sense that so many of it's people would have stories just as interesting(though not as crazy) as Tinker's. The author fleshed them out beautifully while leaving this humble reader with even more to look forward to in the next installment.

Wen Spencer has a way with creating good, solid people you come to care about. Can't wait to see how they all come together in the next book.

What a fun book! The stories in the book do a wonderful job of filling out the background of the series. They are fun, and all the characters stand out and feel real. The drabbles do require you to have read the novels in the series to understand the humor, but all the actual stories are standalone.

Loved this book, it fills in the little holes you didn't even know existed and introduces you to even more great characters! Can't wait for the next book.
