I recently started practicing yoga and I could see how meditation can help me relax and unwind. However, my mind always wondered all over the place when I tried to meditate until I started to use the methods in this book. It's great to be able to quickly quiet my mind & get the relaxtion I need in just 8 or 10 minutes intead of spending 30 min or an hour in long drawn meditation sessions. Now I do it throughout the day whenever needed. This is a great book for someone just starting out meditating or wanting to do quick & simple meditation sessions.

Since many people in my life have recently been recommending mediation to help family members dealing with chronic illness, I decided to find out more about it since I knew very little about the details of meditating. Not my comfort zone, but Barbara quickly put me at ease in the introduction by explaining that it is natural to move back and forth from normal thinking state to meditation and not worry as distraction are inevitable and not anything to condemn myself for having while trying to meditate. I was surprised about how much documented research has been done of the medical benefits of meditation. The meditation session the author included at the end was a perfect way to see if our bodies would respond to the process at all, and they did! We are looking forward to trying some of the other methods suggested and have found this book to be a definite asset to our own health care needs.

I first was introduced to meditation when I participated in various yoga classes, otherwise was inexperienced when it came to meditation, so I found this book extremely helpful. The sections of this book that I thoroughly enjoyed and found helpful was how meditation benefits a person’s mental and physical states – I particularly am drawn to practices like this that I can benefit from. I also enjoyed how this book wasn't very time consuming. I was able to learn all I needed to meditate for 10 minutes in a very short reading time span. These 10 minute meditations helped relieve my stress. If you are experiencing stress or want to get in-tune with your body, I’d recommend the 10 minute meditation.

This is a small book but has a lot of information. The book did not take me very long to read at all. It was not overly difficult to follow so it is a good book in that way as well. I did not realize there were so many levels and details to meditating. This book does a decent job explaining them.

I've known for quite some time meditation is a great way to relax and relieve stress. I have tried it and it has never worked for me. I can't seem to keep my thoughts from racing. However, after reading this short, but very well-written guide, I have been successful. The author does a superb job explaining meditation and its benefits in detail.
